The states have their own organization, called the Council of State Governments. It promotes the sovereignty of the states and their role in the American federal system.

Everything you wanted to know about the states but were afraid to ask can be found at State-Search. This is a service of the National Association of State Information Resource Executives. It is designed to serve as a topical clearinghouse of state government information on the World Wide Web.

The Urban Institute, a Washington, DC, think tank, is engaged in a multi-year research project to assess "the New Federalism. " The project focuses on health care, income security, job training, and social services.
