Citizens for Tax Justice is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to fair taxation at the federal, state, and local levels. In addition to identifying tax expenditures, it has two valueable features, "Who Pays?" and "The Hidden Entitlements." Who Pays? shows that most states take a far greater share of income in taxes from middle- and low-income families thanfrom the wealthy. The Hidden Entitlements describes the tax loopholes for the rich and corporationsthat are hidden in the tax code. Each of the entitlement programs contributing to the $455 billion in tax loopholes for 1996 is described in detail, with detailed cost estimates for the next seven years for each program.

The Heritage Foundation is a conservative thinktank "committed to rolling back the liberal welfare state and building an America where freedom, opportunity, and civil society flourish." The site provides "this week's to ten facts," and visitors can access the foundation's job bank. Its "Candidate Education Guide" provides the latest news on current issues.

The Progressive Policy Institute is an alternative thinktank advocating "a philosophy that adapts the progressive tradition in American politics to the realities of the Information Age and points to a "third way" beyond the liberal impulse to defend the bureaucratic status quo and the conservative bid to simply dismantle government." It is sponsored by the Democratic Leadership Council, which promoted Clinton's nomination for president and foreshadowed his centrist policies.
